Nature of request: Report to Edward II from the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer concerning the abbot of Westminster's petition to the King and his council for the tithes of the farm of Droitwich, granted by the King's predecessors to his predecessors forever, which they held, receiving £8 yearly, until the death of Queen Margaret (to whom Edward I had granted the manor) in the eleventh year of the King's reign [1317], when the abbot did not receive any tithes because the King granted the manor to Queen Isabella, his consort, who refused to pay and then to his brother, Edmund, Earl of Kent, and his heirs at the value of £89 15s yearly, who also refused to pay, that in the past abbots of Westminster were paid this tithe at the Exchequer, sometimes by money and sometimes by allowance.
