History: | The Board of Inland Revenue was formed by the amalgamation of the Board of Excise with the Board of Stamps and Taxes under the Inland Revenue Board Act of 1849. Its responsibilities are to administer and collect direct taxes (income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, stamp duty, and petroleum revenue tax) and advises the Chancellor of the Exchequer on policy questions involving them.
