Details of SC 8/334/E1150
Reference: SC 8/334/E1150
Description:
Petitioners: Hugh de Wetherby.
Name(s): de Wetherby, Hugh
Addressees: King and council
Nature of request: Wetherby requests that a remedy is ordained for him as his father gave two bovates and three acres of land in Wetherby to the Templars, and they ought to revert to him now the Templars are suppressed, but the three parts of [the manor] of Wetherby are held by the Lady Percy and the king.
Nature of endorsement: Because the two parts of the tenement are in the hand of the king by the minority of the heir of Henry de Percy, he should await the coming of age.Concerning the third part which is in the hand of the Lady Percy in the name of dower he should sue against her according to the law of the land.
Places mentioned: Wetherby, [West Riding of Yorkshire].
People mentioned: Jordan de Wetherby, father of the petitioner; Templars; Henry de Percy; [Agnes de Percy], Lady Percy.
Note: The petition is dated to c. 1314 as it is clearly not long after the suppression of the Templars, and Henry de Percy died in October 1314 so that the petition must postdate this.
Date: [c. 1314]
