Details of SC 8/21/1045
Reference: SC 8/21/1045
Description:
Petitioners: Walter Sibile.
Name(s): Sibile, Walter
Addressees: King and lords of parliament.
Nature of request: Walter Sibile states that Thomas Mortymere, who was appointed in the last parliament as arbiter in the long dispute between the petitioner and William Coggeshale and Nicholas Twyford, and who was supposed to have given his decision before last Michaelmas, has not done so, and requests that Richard Lescrop, who was the parties' original choice of arbiter, might question Thomas Mortymere, and might then act as arbiter in his place.
Nature of endorsement: When this petition had been read in parliament, it was ordained by the lords, with the assent of William Coggeshale and Walter Sibile, present in parliament, that they would be under the arbitration of the Bishop of London, the Bishop of Ely, and Richard Lescrop, two or one of them, on the matter mentioned by this petition, and that they would be bound by this; and William and Walter submitted in parliament to the aforesaid arbitration and decision, in the aforesaid form.
People mentioned: William Coggeshale; Nicholas Twyford, knight; Thomas Mortymere (Mortimer); Richard Lescrop (Scrope).
Note: The response to this petition is mentioned by SC 8/21/1044 as a decision made in the parliament held at Westminster in November 1391; so this petition must be from this parliament.
