Hyman LEVY: British. A founder member of the Association of Scientific Workers in 1917-1918 and an associate of leading members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) from at least 1933, Professor LEVY was a convinced Marxist and joined the party in 1939. From 1951 he was Chairman of its Education Committee but by 1956 he had become disillusioned with aspects of Soviet policy towards Jews as well as with the CPGB's leadership and in 1958 was expelled from the party following his publication of his book 'Jews and the National Question'
