Eric Henry Stoneley BURHOP, alias Stanley: Australian. Employed on the Tube Alloys project in the USA during the Second World War, Professor BURHOP was active in the communist penetrated Association of Scientific Workers and by 1947 at the latest was a member of the Communist Party. He was investigated as a possible candidate for a spy of Australian origin who had passed scientific information to a Soviet intelligence officer in the USA
