(9) 'Sketch Map shewing the Boundaries of France according to the Treaties of 30th May 1814 & 20th Novr. 1815': map of north-western France and neighbouring countries (territories now in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany) between Dunkirk (Dunkerque) in the north-west and Strasbourg in the south-east, also showing the frontier as it existed in 1790 and 1792. Reference table to boundaries; note on sources used in compiling the map. Signed by Lieutenant Colonel A C Cooke, Royal Engineers, 27 August 1866. Relevant extracts from printed copies of both the 1814 and 1815 Treaties of Paris are affixed to the face of the map. (1-8) Eight outline tracings, showing various parts of the French frontier: (1) between Dunkirk and Nice; (3) between Nantua and Nice; (4) between Dunkirk and Landau in der Pfalz; (8) between the River Rhine and Nice. Items (2, 5-7) are smaller scraps and sketches. Item (1) traced from an original map in a private letter from Lord Castlereagh [to Lord Liverpool], 23 May 1814. |
