Petitioners: ? No Petitioner named
Nature of request: Copy of a writ of Edward I, king of England to Edmund Deyncourt and John de Insula to enquire into the matter of the inheritance of John le Furneye concerning messuages and lands in Crosby and Dearham which were held by his grandfather, and which were taken into the hand of William de Forz, count of Aumale on his death. The petitioner's father was unable to recover seisin. The king therefore orders that a day and place be provided for the inquisition to be taken. Once it has been taken it is to be returned to the king under their seals and those by which it was made without delay. The sheriff of Cumberland is ordered to have before the king at a time and place all knights and other upright and law-worthy men by whom the truth may be better known.
