Administrative / biographical background: |
The Regeneration Directorate was formed in 1997. In 2002 it was re-organised and re-named as the Regional Regeneration Programmes Division and in 2003 it was again re-named as the Regeneration and Sponsorship Division (RSD). On formation, the Regeneration Directorate comprised of three Divisions: Regeneration Divisions 1, 2 and 3 (RD 1, RD2 and RD3). Only RD 1 and 2 used the RD Prefix. On formation RD 1 had responsibility for Directorate Research, the Special Grants Programme, support to the Inner Cities Religious Council (files for this continued in the ARPD prefix, AT 156) sponsorship of the Groundwork Trust. A Branch in this Division sponsored the Housing Action Trusts and used the HAT Prefix. On formation RD 2 dealt predominately with the Single Regeneration Budget, but also had responsibility for Action for Cities which used its own ACU Prefix (AT 132). RD 3 which was responsible for New Towns and Urban Development Corporations and was in effect the old New Towns Division and continued to use the NT Prefix (New Towns - HLG 115). RD 3 also had a Branch responsible for sponsoring English Partnerships which continued to use the EPSB (English Partnerships Sponsorship Branch) Prefix. Regeneration Division also dealt with the Departmental response to the Report of Lord Rogers Urban Task Force which has a degree of Special Interest. |
