Administrative / biographical background: |
In 1976 responsibility for the structure of the UK fishing industry passed to a newly created Division IV within the Fisheries division. In 1978 Division IV assumed responsibility for fisheries protection services and the negotiation of EU fishing quotas. In 1985 the number of divisions within the Fisheries group of MAFF was reduced to three, and the FIR series became the responsibility of Division III. |
