Date: 1968-1999
History: The Countryside Commission was formed in 1968 from National Parks Commission under the Countryside Act. It had responsibilities for the countryside, national parks and areas of national beauty in England and Wales. In April 1999 it merged with the Rural Development Commission, becoming the Countryside Agency.
