History: | John Grant was one of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators. He was the brother-in-law of Thomas Winter, one of the three original conspirators, and was brought into the plot early in 1605 when extra manpower was needed to dig a mine to break through Parliament's foundations (the original plan). He was captured at Holbeach House and was hanged, drawn and quartered in St Paul's Churchyard on 30 January 1606. |
