Scale: 1 inch to 80 feet. Compass indicator. Initialled 'W.B.T.'. Signed by John Studd, Royal Engineers' office, Hythe, and by Captain Alexander Gordon, Royal Engineers, Hythe, 15 July 1848. Originally accompanying a return of land property dated 31 August 1848 by Lieutenant Col onel William Burton Tylden, Royal Engineers, Dover to the Inspector General of Fortifications.
