Folio 173: Captain Edward Poulson, the St Albans Prize, the Downs. Reports the escape of five men while was anchored off Hythe on the way back from Rye, they stole a boat, when he fired his guns a boat came out from Folkestone. He has ordered the Mayor of Hythe and Folkestone to issue a hue and cry to apprehend the men, asks if he could have a second boat, two men fell over the side while the boat was gone and might have drowned, but other boats came to their assistance. Asks for a set of French colours. |
