Description:

Folios 52-53.

To: The General Board of Health.

From: Frederick Chase, Clerk to the Luton Local Board, Luton [Bedfordshire].

Subject Matter: Letter in reply to a letter of the 29 August 1850, Chase confirms that a surveyor has been appointed to make a complete survey and plan of the district in accordance with the Public Health Act 1848, and he confirms that the Board will not require the assistance of the Ordnance Survey Department as mentioned in a letter of the 30 August 1850. Chase explains that the Board are about to make a Special District Rate for the defraying of expenses for permanent works and considers it simpler to levy the rate in respect of the premises situated in the whole township of Luton and not for parts of it. He raises further questions on the subject of rates to be made to this district.
