To: Frederick Chase, Clerk to the Luton Local Board, Luton [Bedfordshire].

From: The General Board of Health.

Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter of the 27 August 1850 stating that the Luton Local Board has not received a copy of the London Gazette of the 21 June 1850 containing the Order in Council applying the Public Health Act 1848 to Luton. It is advised that on the 24 June copies of the Gazette were duly forwarded to R Vyse and the Reverend Thomas Sykes, who were named on the Order to conduct the first election of the Local Board. Since that time no request had been made for further copies of the Gazette until the receipt of the letter of the 27 August. In addition to copies of the Gazette, enclosed are Public Health Act 1848; the water report and general report of the Board and a minute of the Board [not included in item] for use of the Local Board.
