Description:

Folio 493: Commissioner Sir John Kempthorne, Portsmouth. Receipt of letter, is grateful for assistance with his eldest son's wages and hopes that his son Morgan's disbursement will be repaid. He hopes the Board will give an order to stop Mr. Damm's wages to pay his deputy when the Ordinary is paid. He will try to buy pitch and rozin locally. When he receives £500 he hopes to buy timber at Beaulieu, also some at Waltham Chase. He hopes to start paying the Bristol and Kingfisher next Monday and shall observe the order in paying the men removed from the Mary into the Bristol. He answers Captain Russell's complaint about his sails mentioning Sir Thomas Allin. They will have to have the Rose on shore again to find her leaks. The Greyhound has been cleaned and graved. The imprest for repairs will not pay one half of their debts. 31 Aug 1679 The Bristol and Kingfisher have come into harbour.
