Description: |
Folio 388: Commissioner Sir John Kempthorne, Portsmouth. Colonel Norton will sell all his timber together, but will not set a price. The last £1,000 impressed to Mr. Steventon will not pay the debts owing for the new ships and there is nothing to be had except for ready money. Also there is a great want of money for the Repairs works. The Master Shipwright and others have gone with Mr. Fitch to Beaulieu to mark up his timber. The master of the hoy which brought the timber demands the freight as well for the bad timber and he requests instructions. He has told Thomas Baker, Shipwright, that he may be discharged. |
