Description:

Folio 13: Mr. Hale, Clerk of the Cheque, Sheerness. He is sending several ships' books brought by the Master of his water boat and asks for a receipt. He thanks the Board for recommending him to Portsmouth, even though he was not appointed, but asks to be considered for further opportunities that arise. Asks for encouragement for his Clerks, as is given to Mr. Gregory and other Officers at Chatham, as they undergo more hazardous work due to foul weather and each has more writing work. Mr. Gregory had such an allowance for the whole year and throughout the war.
