To: The Local Government Act Office.

From: F Audsley, Chairman of the Idle Local Board, Idle, [Yorkshire].

A letter. Audsley relates that as the Idle Board's Chairman, he is proscribed by the Public Health Act 1848 to act as returning officer at its election of members. However, at that year's election he is to stand down for re-election, and cannot legally return himself as a candidate. He asks the Office what should be done to remedy this situation.
