To: The Local Government Act Office.

From: William Toy, 154 Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyme, [Lancashire].

A letter acknowledging the receipt of the Office's letter regarding the wish of the hamlet of Hurst in the Ashton-under-Lyne Parish to adopt the Local Government Act 1858. Toy comments that it seems from his reading of the Act that it may be adopted in any place with a known or defined boundary. Hurst fits this description, so he therefore believes that the Act may be successfully adopted therein.
