1 individual petition (the prisoner) and 1 collective petition (38 inhabitants of the parish of St Benedict) on behalf of Benjamin Burley, waterman, convicted at Lincoln Quarter Sessions held at Kirton on 23 October 1830 in breach of the peace [riot]. Grounds for clemency: Burley admits to having been caught up in a noisy assembly but claims to have played no part in the melee, he is anxious to return to support his family having an invalid wife dying of tuberculosis. Letter from Colonel Sibthorpe MP forwarding petition. Initial sentence: 12 months' imprisonment. Annotated: nil. FP8
