Note: Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: .......... Attached is the inquisition made at the Guildhall of the City of London on 03/08/1512. At the time of the recognisance Richard Twigg and Margaret his wife were seised in demesne of: a brewhouse, called Le Lylepott, within Aldersgate in the Parish of St Mary Staining in Aldersgate Ward, with 56 kilderkyns [a cask holding 18 gallons of beer or 16 gallons of ale (the equivalent of half a barrel)], 23 vats, 4 "lycour buchels", 3 masshing paddles, and 3 yeltons, with covers, a mashing-trough of lead, a "gest" of lead, a mill called a malt-mill, with utensils belonging to it, a brewing-trough, a "growghtlede", a "maschyngton", and 12 firkins belonging to the brew-house, worth altogether £9 10s. 9d.; and a stable with a solar adjacent to the brew-house, worth 58s. They were also seised in demesne of 16 other tenements or cottages: one inhabited by a widow, worth 4s. a year; another, worth 8s.; a third, worth 8s.; a fourth, worth 8s.; 2 cottages inhabited by one man, worth 16s.; another three, worth 8s. each; 2 together, worth 16s.; four, worth 8s. each; 2 tenements together, worth 13s. 4d.; another, worth 6s. 8d.; and 2 tenements joined together, inhabited by Richard Twigg, worth 18s. a year: altogether they are worth £10 14s.
