Description: APGriffith (Gruffydd) Thloyt (Llwyd).Thloyt (Llwyd) Griffith (Gruffydd)King and council. Thloyt requests remedy of the grievances and damages that he has suffered as reason and right demand, and that his mainprise be quit. He was imprisoned for a year and a half although he had done nothing wrong and knows no reason why, he was released at mainprise by order of the king and is prepared to answer any charges. 1) Coram ipso rege. 2) Coram rege et magno consilio.
Note: The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1327. The hand of the petition perhaps suggests a petition of the 1320s, and Rees dated the petition to c. 1327 noting the reference to service to the king's father, but all the other petitions that are ascribed to this petitioner date to late in Edward I's reign. The matter and the dating of this petition are discussed in detail by Edwards, and he suggests that this period of imprisonment relates to the imprisonment of a partisan of Edward II under the regime of Isabella and Mortimer (Edwards, 'Llwyd'::pp.589-1). This dating has been followed here.
Date: [c. 1327]
