Nature of request: 1) The petitioners request the restoration to them of arrears from the lands which were formerly held by their mother, stating that they used to be in disagreement about this inheritance, and as a result Gavaston, their father, put the lands into the hands of King Edward, the king's father.2) Arnaud Guilhem requests that, whereas it was the King's will that he have the castle and keeping of Mauleon, he consider that many necessities to keeping and defending the place are lacking.
Nature of endorsement: [On face]1) The seneschal should be ordered to determine why the land was taken into the King's hand, and the value of the payments for the king, and if this payment should be made, if it ought to pertain to the king according to the custom of the land, and then certify the king.2) The seneschal and constable should be ordered to wall the castle, so that it is not in danger from enemies.
