Petitioners: Robert de Clipston, clerk.

Nature of request: Robert de Clipston, clerk, states that the King gave him the wardenship of St Leonard's hospital, York, for term of life, and that he enjoyed this peacefully for a year and a half, until John Walewayn procured a collation from the King that expelled him. He petitioned the York parliament on this, and was granted a writ of Chancery to have John Walewayn come before the justices of King's Bench, and to have justice done there. But the matter has been pending since then, receiving delay after delay. He asks that the justices be ordered to determine the matter, according to justice and reason, and according to the form of the writ sent to them.
Nature of endorsement: Coram domino rege.The justices are to be ordered that, when they have seen the first writ sent to them, they are to proceed to do justice without delay, according to the tenor of the said command.

Note: Dated on the guard to 'c. 1331', with reference to CCR 1330-3 pp.227-228 is dated 24 April 1331, but seems to be from a later stage of proceedings, as John Walwayn is now dead, and the hospital has been granted to John Giffard. As the hospital was granted to Robert Baldock after John Walwayn's death, this petition would seem to be from the reign of Edward II - the York parliament referred to was probably one of those held in 1322.
