Description:

Reports that he has been instructed to leave England for Jamaica on 2 December. Asks for allowance in lieu of living and office accommodation until suitable premises are erected, and also for a properly manned 'sea boat' and for the salary of a clerk or secretary. With draft of Colonial Office reply stating that no additional funds are available and that in the opinion of the secretary of state the salary of £800 should cover all expenses.
