Description:

Cumberland to Newcastle: Ligonier has crossed the Maas with 18 battalions and 18 squadrons. The Austrian corps will march to join Cumberland next day. Dispositions of Saxe's and Lowendal's troops. He estimates that Maastricht can be defended for a month, and encloses a list [SP 87/24/59] of the regiments forming its garrison. Bathiani is incapacitated by gout at 's Hertogenbosch. Cumberland has told Legg to assure the king of Prussia that as little damage as possible will be done to his territory. Dated at 'Hellinrouch 3/4 of a league from Roermond'. ff. 169-172
