Details of SC 8/21/1038B
Reference: SC 8/21/1038B
Description:
Petitioners: ? No Petitioner named
Nature of request: Writ from Richard II to the Sheriff of Lincolnshire, asking him to instruct Henry, Prior of Huntingdon, to appear before him in parliament at Westminster at the quinzaine of Hilary next, to hear the errors in the record and process between him and John Sheppey, and to do and receive what the king's court decides.
Nature of endorsement: John Mulsho, Sheriff. I made return of this writ to John Barewelle, bailiff of the liberty of the honour of Gloucester in the county of Northamptonshire, who has full return and execution of all writs within the aforesaid liberty, because no execution could be made of it within my bailiwick outside the aforesaid liberty, who replied to me as follows: 'I instructed Henry, Prior of Huntingdon, to be before the king in his parliament at the aforesaid quinzaine contained in this writ, to hear, do and receive what this writ demands and requires, by Richard Stoke, Henry Wryght, Robert Myldesburgh, Richard Lyneden'.
Places mentioned: Nassington, [Northamptonshire]; Huntingdon, [Huntingdonshire]; Lincoln, [Lincolnshire].
People mentioned: Richard [II], King of England; John Mulsho, Sheriff of Northamptonshire; Henry, Prior of Huntingdon, John Shepeye (Sheppey), prebendary of Nassington in Lincoln Cathedral; John Barewelle (Barwell), bailiff of the liberty of the honour of Gloucester in the county of Northamptonshire; Richard Stoke; Henry Wryght (Wright), Robert Myldesburgh; Richard Lyneden; [...] Roderh[am].
Note: Dated at Westminster, 27 November 17 Richard II (1393). The prior is informed to be at the parliament to which SC 8/21/1038A was submitted: however, he presumably did not appear, as the response to that petition is a similar writ from him to appear at the next parliament.
