Description: APCommons in parliament.King.The commons of this present parliament request that the king return all castles formerly attached to the offices of sheriffs, to their previous state, as he has recently granted them to various people for term of life, depriving the sheriffs of a place to keep their prisons and otherwise perform their office.The king wills it.cure.
Note: Vol. III p.275a (no. 5) dates this petition to the parliament of January 1390 (1389, as they are using the old calendar), but the dating of many of the petitions ascribed by them to particular years of Richard II is not very secure.
