Description:
Petitioners: Thomas de Lovayn.
Name(s): de Lovayn, Thomas
Addressees: King and council.
Nature of request: Thomas de Lovayn states that he holds the manor of Easton of the king in chief, paying 10 li. annually to Windsor Castle, and the manor of Bildeston for a knight's fee only, and that the Barons of the Exchequer wish to levy £40 from him for his scutage for Wales in the fifth and tenth years, although it can be seen from the Roll of Marshalcy that his father Matthew de Lovayn, did this service, and that he held by homage and nothing more, and Thomas has done homage. Therefore he asks to be quit of this money.
