Details of SC 8/16/771
Reference: SC 8/16/771
Description:
Petitioners: John de Kerbrok (Carbrooke).
Name(s): de Kerbrok (Carbrooke), John
Addressees: King and council.
Nature of request: John de Kerbrok states that certain tenements were given to Roger his brother and Maud his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, with the remainder to John and his heirs, and that Roger died without an heir of his body, and Maud afterwards made waste, sale, ruin and destruction of the tenements. Because a writ of waste is not provided in this case by any current statute, John requests that a remedy be ordained, as has been done before in a similar case, to prevent his disinheritance.
Nature of endorsement: No law is yet ordained in this case.
People mentioned: Roger [de Kerbrok (Carbrooke)]; Maud [de Kerbrok (Carbrooke)], wife of Roger de Carbrooke.
Note: Tentatively dated between 1322 (on the basis of hand and language) and 1340 (when there was important legislation on the matter of waste, albeit not addressing the specific point made in the petition).
Date: [? 1322-? 1340]
Held by: The National Archives, Kew
Former reference in its original department: Parliamentary Petition 4573
Legal status: Public Record(s)
Language: French
Closure status: Open Document, Open Description
