Details of SC 8/8/399B
Reference: SC 8/8/399B
Description:
Petitioners: ? No Petitioner named
Nature of request: Copy of a grant by Maud de Lovetot of her windmill of Gringley, together with all manner of suit of mill from the whole vill of Gringley, to the canons of Worksop, to hold of herself and her heirs or assigns in free, pure and perpetual alms.
Nature of endorsement: Vacated copy of endorsement to petition SC 8/8/399C
Places mentioned: Worksop, [Nottinghamshire]; Gringley on the Hill, [Nottinghamshire]; Waltringham (Walkeringham), [Nottinghamshire]; Clayworth, [Nottinghamshire]; Misterton, [Nottinghamshire]
People mentioned: Maud de Lovetot; Gerard de Furnivall, husband of Maud de Lovetot; William de Furnivall, son of Maud de Lovetot; canons of Worksop Priory; Adam de Eyvill, knight; Robert de Mountjoiy, knight; Gervase Bernacle, knight; Richard de Schirburn; Henry, rector of the church of Walkeringham; Henry le Norreys of Clayworth; Robert [de Misterton], son of Walter de Misterton; Richard de Levesham of Misterton; Thomas Doynell; Thomas Damyot of Misterton; John de Vilers; Richard [de Misterton], son of Walter de Misterton; Henry de Foulholm; Thomas de Deneby of Walkeringham; Alan de Bekyngham; John Vilayn
Note: The copy of the grant is dated to 1325-1327 on the basis of the dating of the petition with which it was enclosed (SC 8/8/399C). The grant is dated on the guard to '1327, cf. seq.' but this would appear to refer to the copy rather than the original. CCR 1330-3, p.197 would seem to suggest that this gift was made in the reign of Edward I, if not earlier (especially as SC 8/8/399A dates the assize of novel disseisin to October 1276). The document's actual date must be very tentatively dated here to within the regnal dates of Edward I.
Date: [1325-1327]
