'A map of the countries between Constantinople [now Istanbul] and Calcutta including Turkey in Asia, Persia [now Iran], Afghanistan & Turkestan': 2 copies of the left-hand (western) side only of the map, extending as far as eastern Persia. Reference table. Published by Edward Stanford, Ltd, London. Different MS additions, coloured, to each sheet: (2) showing railways, roads, and the disposition of British, Russian and Turkish forces and of friendly and hostile Arabs and Kurds; (3) showing railways, oil areas, submarine bases, a thinly populated region fit for European colonisation, and virgin soil which would admit of cultivation. Several brief, typed notes affixed to item 3; typed reference tables to additions affixed to both items. Originally enclosed with a paper by Sir Mark Sykes: 'The Problem of the Near East', 20 June 1916.
