Marlborough to [John] Chetwynd [ambassador at Turin]: the importance of supplying powder and shot for their project [an attack on Toulon]. The fleet will supply powder and shot for their own guns. He must obtain shot of the right calibre and more powder from [in cipher] Genoa and Leghorn. Sir Clowdisley Shovell has joined Admiral Bing. Marlborough supposes the taking of [in cipher] Antibes, Monaco and Villefranche [-sur-Mer] to be essential to the project. Dated at camp at Meldert. ff. 612, 613
