This series contains private office papers from the Control Office for Germany and Austria. The files relate to a great variety of aspects of British control in Germany, ranging from large general questions to the problems of particular individuals. Most of these were brought to the attention of the Control Office by Members of Parliament and other public figures, but a proportion of the series reflects administrative and policy matters which arose internally. A few of the later papers are those of the Foreign Office's German Section.
