These include the Joint Committee on Supply and Training of Qualified Librarians; Joint Committee on Inter-Library Co-operation: Joint Committee on Standards of Public Library Services.

There are no records of the council meetings after 1981.

Custodial history: In 1993 these files were transferred from the Department of Education and Science, which was established in 1964, to the Department of National Heritage which had been created in 1992. When the Department of Culture, Media and Sport was set up in 1997 they came under its auspices.

Administrative / biographical background:

It is not clear whether LAC was formally wound up in 1981 or lapsed when responsibility for the Arts was transferred to the newly established Office for Arts and Libraries.
