Registered files of the Department of Education and Science, Further and Higher Education Branch relating to youth and adult welfare particularly with a variety of matters relating to the voluntary sector's involvement in youth matters.

Two files have been selected as examples of routine applications for grants from village halls and youth clubs to improve their premises.

The YC series of files appears to be an amalgamation of material that was formerly registered under YW references. (ED 124, ED 126 and ED 169). From the covering dates of all four series it is likely that the two series were being used simultaneously during the late 1960s. The YC series combines the policy and national youth association material in ED 124 with the grant applications and LEA word in ED 126. Adult welfare material found in ED 169 is also included in the YC Series.
