Administrative / biographical background:

The subcommittee on Management Education of the Industrial Policy Official Committee was set up as a joint Ministry of Technology and Department of Economic Affairs Committee.

The establishment of this Subcommittee was recommended in a paper (INO (68) 18) presented by the Department of Economic Affairs. The paper suggested that there was a need for such a group to facilitate discussion and co-ordination between production and education departments.

The chairman of the Industrial Policy Official Committee was from the Ministry of Technology. The chairman of the Subcommittee on Management Education was from the Department of Education and Science.

The Subcommittee on Management Education first met on 31 October 1968. Its formal terms of reference were "to co-ordinate the activities of the departments concerned with management education and training, and to keep under review developments in this field. To encourage regional initiatives in management education with particular emphasis on the problems of small business and to report to the Industrial Policy Official Committee."

The Subcommittee is assumed to have ceased to function after 1969.
