Title: Exchequer: King's Remembrancer: Papers of the Clerk to the Deputy Remembrancer
Description:

This series contains papers of the Clerk to the Deputy Remembrancer who continued, after the abolition of the office of Deputy in 1823, as Clerk to the King's Remembrancer.

The series comprises papers in revenue causes; collections of precedents; returns to parliamentary committees and commissions, often more detailed than the evidence ultimately printed, including returns to the commissioners on Public Records, to the committee on sinecure offices, and to the commission on salaries and emoluments in courts of justice; and miscellanea, including papers relating to the nomination of and accounts of sheriffs.

Many of the papers in revenue causes relate to the sale of lands seized under a writ of extent. The Clerk's papers include particulars of the estates to be sold, sometimes with plans; signed biddings for the estates; draft reports of the sale; and draft conveyances.
