Title: Duchy of Lancaster: Court of Duchy Chamber: Pleadings, Depositions and Examinations, Series II
Description:

This series consists of documents authorising the collection of evidence in equity proceedings heard before the Court of Duchy Chamber, as well as the evidence itself.

The records comprise commissions, interrogatories and depositions, as well as original pleadings of the court.

Date: 1558-1818
Arrangement:

The series is arranged in a chronological series of 155 boxed items. Within each bundle the various documents relating to a particular suit are sewn together to form a discrete file. For the reign of Elizabeth I each box contains the records of one regnal year. For the reigns of James I and Charles I the records of any one regnal year may be spread across more than one box. From the Commonwealth onwards the boxes are arranged by calendar year and any one box may contain records from a number of sequential years.
