Title: The Crown Estate Commissioners: Annual Reports
Description:

Published annual reports of the The Crown Estate commissioners, usually containing sections relating to the business of the board, management, finance and accounts, forestry, foreshores and the seabed, agricultural estates in England, Scotland and Wales, and urban estates. Some have more detailed information on the London estates, housing estates and the Windsor Estate.

Most of the earlier reports have a statement of accounts divided into three sections: the capital account, the revenue account (or revenue receipts and payments), and the revenue appropriation account, with a list of securities held. In 1988, however, the design of the annual report was changed considerably. Amongst other changes, the size of the report was increased to A4, and a 'glossy' format was introduced containing many more photographs, now in colour.

Some of the earlier reports contain an appendix showing all the Crown estates with their current rental values. These schedules of properties are divided up into agricultural estates, urban ones and the Windsor Estate. This practice changed with the introduction of the new design in 1988 referred to above, and schedules showing the acreage (only) of all agricultural estates and the acreage and square footage of commercial space applicable to the urban estates are in the reports for 1989 and 1993-1997. Location maps of the estates are in CRES 45/29 (agricultural estates only), 30, 31 and 34-41.
