Description:

Survey of age and services of Pursers, 301-450. (Described at item level).

These documents consist of replies by Pursers to an Admiralty survey in regards to an additional one shilling a year to half pay. The extra shilling was granted by an Order in Council dated 13 April 1836. In their responses to these surveys Pursers stated what age they were in July 1834; how long they had served in the Royal Navy both in war and peace; whether they were willing to serve at sea if called on, and if they were unable to serve to state whether it was because of age, infirmity, or from being otherwise occupied.
