'France': sheet 17 'Amiens' and part of sheet [16 'Dieppe'], joined to form a map of Amiens and the surrounding countryside; shows rivers, woods, roads, canals, railways; churches, 'châteaux', farms, forts, mills; quarries; contours at 10-metre intervals. Compass indicator; magnetic variation 1916. Keys to conventional signs. Index maps. 'For Official Use Only'. Note on sheet 17: 'The system of contouring on this sheet can only be considered approximately correct.' Amiens sheet printed at the War Office, October 1915 and by the Ordnance Survey 1916; [Dieppe] sheet printed at the War Office in July [year excised]. MS additions: a red line from Blangy to Bouchavesnes; a green line from Cérisy to Peronne; a brown line from Molliens-Vidame to Ablaincourt, passing by Courcelles; a black and pink line from Bouchavesnes to Lassigny. Originally filed with war diary of the General Headquarters Operations Branch for 1917.
