['An Accurate Survey and Measurement of the Island of Jersey, Surveyed by Order of His Grace the Duke of Richmond, &c, Master General of the Ordnance...']: the north-west sheet of the Topographical Survey of Jersey, showing the area between St Ouen's Bay and Frémont Point. Ten sheets without the title: (1)-(5) and (8)-(9) proof sheets lacking verbal information; (1) with MS pencil [?triangulation] lines added; (6) and (7) proof sheets with MS lettering added in different fonts; (10) final proof of sheet with engraved lettering. Surveyed by William Gardner; engraved by John Warner, 1795. For the initial rough sketch maps of the topographical survey see MPHH 1/21; the consolidated MS fair copy see MR 1/1172; an engraved version with MS colouring and text see MPHH 1/41; the final engraved maps see WO 78/5549. MPH 1/344, MPHH 1/254 and MPH 1/462 are sets of engraved map proofs for the other 3 sheets. |
