North America. 'Lay's Map of the United States compiled from the Latest and best Authorities and Actual Surveys by Amos Lay, Geographer and Map Publisher, New York 1832': map, on six joined sheets, of the area from Lake Superior in the north and the Atlantic coast in the east, as far south west as Matagorda Bay in the Republic of Texas, showing state and county boundaries, river and lakes, and roads and railways; also shows the Wisconsin territory and parts of the Missouri territory, the Hudson's Bay Company's territory, Upper and Lower Canada (now Ontario and Quebec) and New Brunswick. Explanatory reference table; statistical tables to the populations of states, districts, territories, capitals and other major cities in the United States of America and Lower and Upper Canada. Scale 1 inch to 24 miles. Engraved by O and D A Throop, and William Chapin; title decoration for this edition by Thomas Starling, Wilmington Square, London; published in London, 1834. Insets: (i) map of southern Florida; scale: 1 inch to 12 miles [1:760,320]. (ii) profiles of the Erie, Union, Ohio and Norris canals.
