Ottoman Empire. 4 maps (of territory now in Turkey). (1) 'Survey of the Route from Erzerum [Erzurum] to Trebizond [now Trabzon]... 1855'; on squared paper. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles [1:253,440]. Compass indicator. Drawn by Lieutenant and Captain Brevet J Geils, Topographical and Statistical Depot, War Department, 5 January 1857. (2-4) Three sketch maps showing hill shading, apparently drafts for portions of item (1): (2) sheet 1, showing the route between Trebizond and Bayburt; (3) sheet 2, showing the area south of Bayburt; (4) sheet 3, showing the area around Erzurum, to Bulmush in the west and Karaurgan in the east. Scale: [1:78,032] (calculated). Sheet sizes between 63 cm x 48 cm and 153 cm x 134 cm.
