Description:

Three copies of 'A Map of the Country from the Western Lakes to the Eastern parts of the Center [sic] Colonies of North America 1765': a map covering the area (now in the United States of America and Canada) between Lake Michigan, Lac Saint Pierre and Cape Henry (in Virginia) showing settlements, forts, roads, waterways, mountains in relief, and the distribution of native peoples. Reference note distinguishes principal forts from ungarrisoned forts and those staffed by only a few men; reference notes on forts taken and destroyed. Scale: 1 inch to 18 miles. Compass indicator. Surveyed by William Brasier; (1) [?Brasier's original map]; (2) copied by John Chamberlain; (3) copied by Thomas Smart.
