Description:

Bavaria (now part of Germany): Blenheim (now Blindheim). 'A plan of the Famous Victory at Bleinem, obtained by his Grace the Duke of Marlborough over the Elector of Bavaria, and the Marechals Tallard and Marcin, the 13th August, 1704 S.N. [New Style]': two copies of a map covering the River Danube between Lauingen and Donauwörth, and parts of the Kessel and Wörnitz rivers, showing forests, towns and villages. Reference table to lettered points detailing the distribution and movements of [Austrian, British, French and Bavarian] troops and defences. Portrait of the [First] Duke of Marlborough and laudatory tablet, in Latin, each surrounded by allegorical figures. Scale: 3 inches to 700 geometric paces. South-west at the top. By J van Vianen; printed by Reynerus Leers. MS addition to item (1), marking the position of the 'Camp of the Confederates before the Battle'. The battle was part of the War of the Spanish Succession.
