Description:

Lancashire: map of area between Great and Little Marton, Layton and Lytham [St Anne's]. Shows common fields, Marton Mere, streams, paths, ponds, Hawes Common. Buildings drawn in perspective: houses, Lytham parish church, mill and sluice, bridges, Layton windmill, pillory. Possibly unfinished: some place name scrolls left empty; deletions include drawing of buildings at Priory of Lytham St Anne's. Scale: about six inches to 1 mile: based on Yates's calculation. Oriented to the east. Endorsed: 'No 56 Great Marton, Little Marton, Lytham Com' Lanc r: And by an Indorsm t. appeared to be a Boundary between the Prior de Lethum and Marg t Butler Wid w for a Comon called Hawes and to be taken in a Cause in the Duchy'. To illustrate a dispute, Lytham Priory v Thomas Butler, 23 and 24 Henry VIII.
